Founded almost forty years ago, the Elite Model Agency is the largest modeling agency in the world. The Elite Model Look World Final is an international beauty contest where eighty girls from seventy countries compete for a modeling contract with the Elite. This year over 350,000 contestants have competed internationally to reach the 80 contestants selected to compete in the world final. Every year the final is broadcasted in over 60 countries to over 400 million people, it's one of the most anticipated events of the year. This year the final contest takes place during the World Fair in Shanghai on October 10th. Previous winners of this contest include top models Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour, Gisele Bunchen, Linda Evangelista, Karen Mulder and many others.

For the first time since this contest began, the Elite Model Look World Final will be webcast live around the world in HD. Coverage for this event will begin one month before the October 10th live event and will give an in depth view of the event and the girls competing. Online coverage will also continue after the event from the website with video clips of the show, backstage footage and model profiles.

A month before the Elite Model Look final, the launch website will start to draw an audience via video portraits of four of the contestants. See where these girls come from and their hometown surroundings, how they got to where they are now and what they exect to happen at the final show.

After watching the video clips, you can then register to be reminded of the live webcast through your mobile phone, social networks, or email. The website will also have information about the final contest in Shanghai and photo and coverage of other contests this year from other countries leading up to this main event. The launch website will also be the main resource for online and traditional press to download photos, video clips, text and whatever else they need for their press coverage. Main press targets for online publicity will be the blogosphere of beauty, fashion, and celebrity websites.

Ten days before the live webcast, teaser videos will begin to be published of the girls in Shanghai. Get a behind the scenes look at everything leading up to the final contest day. Interviews with some of the girls, their arrival in Shanghai, hair and make-up, fittings and just exploring Shanghai. These videos will use embedded players that can be used by the blogosphere that want to help promote this event. Each video will be driving the viewer to go to the launch site and register to watch the live webcast.

The day before the event and right before the live webcast, messages via the social networks, SMS, and email will go out to all those that registered to watch the show. The word will also go out via email to all the blogs that are covering the contest. A big push will be done by Microsoft as a large feature on the of the Windows Media Guide.

The live webcast will start off one hour before the show begins by playing all of the video content created for the launch website. The launch website will feature both Silverlight Smooth Streaming and Dynamic HTTP streaming for Adobe Flash. The content will be encoded live in six different kilobit rates ranging from 3 megabit per second down to 300k per second. The player for the live webcast will test the Internet connection of the viewer and automatically give them the best speed for them. The 1.5 megabit per second connection will give a near television quality stream on a full screen monitor, while the 3 megabit per second stream will be a DVD quality video viewed full screen on a computer monitor. The high resolution quality of this live video is very important because if there isn't a television quality experience for the viewer, they won't be able to clearly see the details of each contestant. When the live show begins the title sequence will roll and then a live mix will be made from the contest. Viewers of the live show can also become part of the program via live Skype video conferencing. They will be able to ask questions or give comments during specific times during the live program. In between show segments, 15 second and 30 second video commercials will play as well as B-Roll footage with product placement included. After three hours, the show finishes and the entire production will be available as VOD ( video on demand) for at least two months.
